ContentBox 6 sees a robust upgrade to ColdBox 7 Core, bringing a plethora of features and benefits. From support for new CFML engines to asynchronous programming capabilities, enhanced logging facilities, REST handlers, and performance optimizations, this upgrade ensures that ContentBox stays at the forefront of modern web development.

CBSecurity 3: A Fortified Shield:

Our cbsecurity module has been migrated to version 3, offering an array of features such as a fortified rule engine, firewall visualizer, delegations, JWT enhancements, and cross-site request forgery support. Your content is now safeguarded with an even stronger security layer.

Introducing the Ortus ORM Lucee Extension, a Hibernate support extension designed for Lucee. This extension brings a host of features, enhancements, and improved speed to elevate your content management experience.

Content Templates:

ContentBox 6 introduces Content Templates, allowing you to capture repetitive content structures efficiently. With templates for entries, pages, and content stores, you can now streamline the creation process with predefined settings for titles, content, descriptions, excerpts, custom fields, categories, SEO, modifiers, cache settings, featured images, display options, editors, markup, and more.

Domain Aliases for Flexibility:

Enhance your site configurations by adding multiple domain aliases. ContentBox 6 enables you to match one or more domain expressions to a single site, providing unparalleled flexibility.

Migrations FTW!:

Say goodbye to the complexities of managing database schemas across various RDBS. ContentBox 6 adopts source-controlled migrations, making upgrades smoother and more manageable with scripts like contentbox:migrate: up and contentbox:migrate: down. Create custom migrations for added flexibility.

CORS Module for Headless Communication:

ContentBox 6 now includes the CORS module, facilitating headless communication and API deployment. Configure it effortlessly, just like any other ColdBox module.

CBFS-Powered Media Manager:

The ColdBox File System (CBFS) module now powers the ContentBox media manager, enhancing performance and enabling storage on various CBFS disks, including local, RAM, AWS, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud Storage, and more.

Experience an improved menu manager that renders previews correctly, helping you build reusable menu content effortlessly.

Breaking the CFML Barrier: Going Serverless on AWS Lambda with BoxLang — by Dan Card

Breaking the CFML Barrier: Going Serverless on AWS Lambda with BoxLang — by Dan Card

Like most in the CFML community, I’d heard about serverless for years but never dived into it for a host of reasons. One of these ( and a pretty major one! ) was an irrational avoidance of all things Java and being used to the ease of spinning up a CFML instance at other hosting locations.

However, as I started to have more and more small projects and personal tools that were a help to my day-to-day workflow, the cost to have these projects “always on” in a running instance or on EC2 was slowly, if not rapidly, becoming too expensive. This economic incentive, and the advent of BoxLang, were enough to overcome my reservations and the results were definitely worth the experiment.
