Ortus Monthly Newsletter – June Recap 2025

June was a transformative month at Ortus Solutions as we crossed the halfway point of the year. With major product updates, powerful community engagements, and continued improvements across the BoxLang ecosystem, our mission to modernize development and empower engineers took center stage. Whether you're a longtime member of the Ortus community or just joining us, here's everything we accomplished in June packed with announcements, tools, and opportunities to grow.

Product Releases & Tools

  • Introducing the BoxLang Version Manager (BVM)

We launched the BoxLang Version Manager (BVM)—a CLI tool designed to simplify version management across all major operating systems. Whether you're running on Linux, macOS, or Windows, BVM gives you full control over local versions, updates, and sandbox environments.

  • BVM v1.14 Released – Project‑specific Versions & More

With the release of BVM v1.14, developers can now define .bvmrc files to pin BoxLang versions per project. Other enhancements include automatic update checks, snapshot refreshes, and a smoother install experience—streamlining multi-version development even further.

BoxLang Core Releases

  • BoxLang v1.3.0 Released

One of the biggest releases so far, BoxLang v1.3.0 introduced compression enhancements for JSON, smart byte handling, new collection utilities (mapMany, reduceMany), improved async queries, response compression, and more. This release focused on performance, stability, and developer experience across runtimes.

  • Also Released in May: BoxLang v1.2.0 & v1.1.0

While released in late May, these versions laid the groundwork for the improvements in June.

    • v1.2.0 brought Maven integration, structured logging, CLI enhancements, and better CFML compatibility.

    • v1.1.0 added parsing helpers, native support for .env files, logging overrides, and security updates.
