After several months of work, we are proud to announce the release of FORGEBOX 6. This has been a major undertaking spawning several months worth of work, a complete UI revamp for registered users, many bug fixes, multi-key API, and much more. We have also introduced our new Business Accounts (https://forgebox.io/plans) with the ability for organizations to have a simple and human way of managing their final package releases and their teams.

Business Plans

These Business plans have all the great features of a PRO account plus the following:

  • Unlimited collaborators
  • Unlimited organizations and teams
  • Organization role-based security for members
  • Up to 180 days of activity logs
  • Unlimited public/private packages under the organization slug
  • Team-based permissions (read, publish)
  • 100GB of storage for all packages
  • Premium Support (Slack + Issue Tracking)
  • Package install white-black listing (Coming Soon)
  • Package eCommerce (Coming Soon)
  • Package Licensing (Coming Soon)

With a business plan you will be able to create as many teams as you like and organize developers into those teams, but also organize the packages that those teams have. Including if they have read only or publish permissions for the packages.

A business administrator can manage the members of the organization and pay a simple rate for a user. You can also create as many organizations as you like. Every organization is free for the owner to have, but once you have more than 1 in the organization, you will have to pay our simple rate of $6.99/user/month.

Feature Highlights

This release not only introduced the business plans, but also tons of new features a complete new UI.

Dashboard

FORGEBOX 6 comes with a new and improved dashboard with User/Organization reports, top packages, collaborations, pending invites, and activity logs. With these activity logs you can get up to 180 days of activity if you are a business account, you can track user activity plus organization activity, you’ll have package updates, team changes, security logs, latest sales (coming soon) and so much more.

This is the beginning of a one-stop shop for package management. We have many features coming from source control integration, to installation white-black listing, code quality, code security, and so much more.

Package Management

With our new package manager, you’ll get a more modern and friendlier UI, a package version manager, a collaborators manager, the ability to manage collaborators, and lastly, you’ll have collaboration tooling.

Activity Log

The new activity log is your one-stop shop for finding out what has happened with your packages, your team, your organizations, the API, sales (coming soon) and even billing.

  • Business accounts get 180 days of activity retention
  • Pro accounts get 90 days of activity retention
  • Free/Community accounts get 7 days of activity retention

API Keys Management

Our API keys management comes with multi tokens support. This has been a requested feature to give greater flexibility to FORGEBOX. You can now create as many keys as you like with either read-only or publish permissions. You will also be able to choose an expiration for your tokens and even select which one is the default when using CommandBox operations.

With multi-token support you will be able to create CI and Build Process tokens and have deeper security control over them combined with our activity logs.

Collaborations Tooling

FORGEBOX is all about community and we have kicked up a notch on all collaboration tooling. You now not only have collaboration tools in every user/organization dashboard, but have also a dedicated collaborations manager. You will be able now to have an inbox and an outbox of collaborations, that will simply and empower you.

What's Next

There is so much more coming in the next few months, so please stay tuned as we continue to innovate in the package management world.

Introducing the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter: Dynamic JVM Templating for Spring

Spring Boot developers know the pain of evaluating view technologies. Thymeleaf is great — until you need more expressiveness. FreeMarker is powerful — until the syntax fights you. What if you could write templates in a dynamic JVM language that gives you the full power of the platform, feels natural, and requires zero setup to integrate?

Meet the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter.

Why Swiss Banks Are Modernizing CFML Platforms Without Rewrites

The growing need to evolve legacy financial platforms safely

Many Swiss banks and financial institutions still operate important systems built on ColdFusion and CFML platforms.

These systems manage a wide range of functions, including:

  • internal banking workflows
  • reporting systems
  • client portals
  • data integration platforms
  • compliance and risk management tools

In many cases, thes...

Reactive vs Proactive ColdFusion Support: Why Waiting for an Outage Is the Most Expensive Strategy

Reactive vs Proactive ColdFusion Support: Why Waiting for an Outage Is the Most Expensive Strategy

Many ColdFusion environments operate in a reactive mode without realizing it.

Everything seems fine… until something breaks.

A server crashes.

Performance drops suddenly.

An integration stops working.

A security audit reveals missing patches.

At that point the response is urgent:

“Can someone help us fix this now?”

Emergency support is sometimes unavoidable. But when reactive intervention becomes the norm, it usually means something deep...
