What’s New in TestBox v6.0

This major release introduces exciting updates to elevate your testing workflow

1. Full Support for BoxLang

With version 6.0, TestBox now fully supports BoxLang, our cutting-edge programming language. Developers can now write tests, specs, and harnesses directly in BoxLang, ensuring seamless integration with modern coding practices. This support helps streamline your testing environment and maximizes productivity.

2. BoxLang CLI Runner

The new BoxLang CLI Runner is designed to simplify how you run specs and bundles. You no longer need to rely on a web server; the CLI can handle it all, making testing faster and more efficient.

3. Dynamic Project Detection and Testing Modules

TestBox’s CLI now automatically detects BoxLang projects, reducing setup time and ensuring smoother operations. We’ve also introduced the bx-web-support module, enabling headless web server testing to broaden your testing capabilities.

4. Cleaner and More Dynamic Assertions

To improve the readability and efficiency of your tests, TestBox 6.0 includes dynamic assertion methods. This feature allows for a cleaner test-writing process, making it easier to maintain and understand your test cases.

5. Environment Helpers and Debugging Enhancements

We’ve added new environment helpers and display name annotations, making it simpler to organize and identify tests. We’ve also enhanced debugging and matcher functions, giving developers more precise control and insight into their tests.

From Legacy Risk to Modern Agility: A Phased Modernization Roadmap for CFML Teams

Many organizations running CFML applications today face the same challenge.

Their systems still work.

They support core business processes.

They generate revenue.

But at the same time, those platforms are increasingly exposed to risk.

Unsupported runtimes, operational fragility, security exposure, and difficulty integrating with modern systems are becoming more common in environments still running older versions of Adobe ColdFusion or Lucee.

The quest...

Introducing the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter: Dynamic JVM Templating for Spring

Spring Boot developers know the pain of evaluating view technologies. Thymeleaf is great — until you need more expressiveness. FreeMarker is powerful — until the syntax fights you. What if you could write templates in a dynamic JVM language that gives you the full power of the platform, feels natural, and requires zero setup to integrate?

Meet the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter.

Why Swiss Banks Are Modernizing CFML Platforms Without Rewrites

The growing need to evolve legacy financial platforms safely

Many Swiss banks and financial institutions still operate important systems built on ColdFusion and CFML platforms.

These systems manage a wide range of functions, including:

  • internal banking workflows
  • reporting systems
  • client portals
  • data integration platforms
  • compliance and risk management tools

In many cases, thes...
