We had an incredible time at Open South Code 2025, held in the vibrant city of Málaga, Spain. As one of the most important Open Source events in Europe, it was an honor for Ortus Solutions to participate as Gold Sponsors, showcasing the power and potential of BoxLang, our new dynamic language for the JVM.

BoxLang: A New Dynamic JVM Language

Our CEO, Luis Majano, delivered a well-received session titled:

“BoxLang: A New Dynamic JVM Language”

View session details

In this talk, Luis introduced BoxLang as a modern, modular, and cloud-native language that brings new life to the JVM ecosystem. With full CFML compatibility, deep Java interoperability, and the ability to run in environments like AWS Lambda, Docker, and GraalVM, BoxLang represents a major leap forward for developers looking for flexibility, performance, and productivity.

The audience responded with strong interest, and the presentation sparked engaging conversations about the future of dynamic languages on the JVM.

A Thriving Open Source Community

At Ortus Solutions, we are passionate about Open Source. Being part of such an active, diverse, and forward-thinking community at Open South Code reminds us why we do what we do. We met developers, architects, and tech leaders from across Europe and beyond, all working to push the boundaries of innovation and collaboration.

We are grateful to be part of this ecosystem, and we look forward to contributing even more in the future.

What’s Next for BoxLang?

Our journey with BoxLang is just beginning. We believe it has the potential to become a major player in modern JVM development, and events like Open South Code are critical for building awareness, gathering feedback, and growing the community.

If you haven’t explored it yet, visit BoxLang.io to see why teams around the world are choosing BoxLang for building web apps, APIs, mobile backends, and serverless solutions.

Thank you, Málaga, and thank you Open South Code, for creating such an inspiring space for developers and creators.

We’re excited about what lies ahead.

Introducing the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter: Dynamic JVM Templating for Spring

Spring Boot developers know the pain of evaluating view technologies. Thymeleaf is great — until you need more expressiveness. FreeMarker is powerful — until the syntax fights you. What if you could write templates in a dynamic JVM language that gives you the full power of the platform, feels natural, and requires zero setup to integrate?

Meet the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter.

Why Swiss Banks Are Modernizing CFML Platforms Without Rewrites

The growing need to evolve legacy financial platforms safely

Many Swiss banks and financial institutions still operate important systems built on ColdFusion and CFML platforms.

These systems manage a wide range of functions, including:

  • internal banking workflows
  • reporting systems
  • client portals
  • data integration platforms
  • compliance and risk management tools

In many cases, thes...

Reactive vs Proactive ColdFusion Support: Why Waiting for an Outage Is the Most Expensive Strategy

Reactive vs Proactive ColdFusion Support: Why Waiting for an Outage Is the Most Expensive Strategy

Many ColdFusion environments operate in a reactive mode without realizing it.

Everything seems fine… until something breaks.

A server crashes.

Performance drops suddenly.

An integration stops working.

A security audit reveals missing patches.

At that point the response is urgent:

“Can someone help us fix this now?”

Emergency support is sometimes unavoidable. But when reactive intervention becomes the norm, it usually means something deep...
