BoxLang Takes Jfokus 2025 by Storm

Jfokus 2025, one of the largest and most influential Java conferences, took place from February 3-5 in Stockholm, Sweden, bringing together over 2,000 developers, engineers, and JVM enthusiasts. This year, BoxLang made its grand debut on the international Java stage, and the response was nothing short of phenomenal!

As a Silver Sponsor, Ortus Solutions had an electrifying presence at the event, showcasing BoxLang, the newest, most innovative JVM language. With live demos, interactive coding sessions, and an insightful talk by Luis Majano, BoxLang captured the attention of attendees eager to explore a fresh, modular, and lightweight approach to Java development.

A Booth That Stole the Spotlight

From the moment the doors opened, our BoxLang booth was buzzing with activity. Developers from all over the world stopped by to learn about this powerful new language, and we made sure to keep things fun and engaging:

โœ… Live Coding Demos โ€“ Developers loved seeing BoxLang in action more than just reading marketing material. Our TV screen showcased real-world BoxLang use cases, and attendees were eager to try it out on their own devices using Try.BoxLang.io.

๐ŸŽ Exclusive Swag โ€“ T-shirts, stickers, pens, and even BoxLang hoodies were up for grabs. The special BoxLang hoodie challenge (where the first 6 developers to write actual BoxLang code won a hoodie) was a massive successโ€”they were gone on Day 1!

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Developer-Focused Conversations โ€“ Attendees were particularly interested in BoxLangโ€™s modularity, ease of use, and Java interoperability. Many developers were blown away by how easy it was to integrate BoxLang into their existing Java projects.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป Engaging with the Community โ€“ The Swedish developer community was curious and open-minded. Even skeptics walked away intrigued and ready to dive deeper into BoxLang.

๐Ÿš€ Key Features That Excited Developers:

  • ๐Ÿ”น Lightweight core โ€“ Minimal overhead, maximum efficiency.

  • ๐Ÿ”น Modular system โ€“ Pre-built functionality for PDF, images, JDBC, and more.

  • ๐Ÿ”น Multi-runtime support โ€“ Works on Web, AWS Lambda, and CLI.

  • ๐Ÿ”น Intuitive scripting syntax โ€“ Low boilerplate, high productivity.

  • ๐Ÿ”น Seamless Java interoperability โ€“ Easily integrates with Java libraries.

  • ๐Ÿ”น VS Code extension โ€“ (and yes, we heard you loud and clear: IntelliJ support is on our radar! ๐Ÿ‘€)

The JVM Communityโ€™s Reaction

The reception for BoxLang was overwhelmingly positive. Here are some of the most common questions we received:

๐Ÿ’ก How big is the BoxLang community? โ†’ Itโ€™s growing fast! Join us and be part of the movement. ๐Ÿ’ก Why should I use BoxLang over Scala/Kotlin/Java? โ†’ BoxLang simplifies development while offering powerful modular features. ๐Ÿ’ก How do I get started? โ†’ Head to BoxLang.io and start coding today!

From Legacy Risk to Modern Agility: A Phased Modernization Roadmap for CFML Teams

Many organizations running CFML applications today face the same challenge.

Their systems still work.

They support core business processes.

They generate revenue.

But at the same time, those platforms are increasingly exposed to risk.

Unsupported runtimes, operational fragility, security exposure, and difficulty integrating with modern systems are becoming more common in environments still running older versions of Adobe ColdFusion or Lucee.

The quest...

Introducing the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter: Dynamic JVM Templating for Spring

Spring Boot developers know the pain of evaluating view technologies. Thymeleaf is great โ€” until you need more expressiveness. FreeMarker is powerful โ€” until the syntax fights you. What if you could write templates in a dynamic JVM language that gives you the full power of the platform, feels natural, and requires zero setup to integrate?

Meet the BoxLang Spring Boot Starter.

Why Swiss Banks Are Modernizing CFML Platforms Without Rewrites

The growing need to evolve legacy financial platforms safely

Many Swiss banks and financial institutions still operate important systems built on ColdFusion and CFML platforms.

These systems manage a wide range of functions, including:

  • internal banking workflows
  • reporting systems
  • client portals
  • data integration platforms
  • compliance and risk management tools

In many cases, thes...
