Making the most out of our time at home may mean finally doing many things you wished you’ve done. To combat boredom, we have compiled a list of fun things to do while staying in.

  1. Read that book you left in your desk and never had the time to finish.
  2. Enroll in online classes or register for a webinar. Many universities are offering online classes for free. Don’t forget we also have a free webinar on CBElastic Search this Friday!
  3. Catch up on your favorite TV series or if you prefer, watch educational videos. BIG news, our Into the Box 2018 and 2019 session videos are just $9.99 right now!
  4. Exercise! A great way to liberate stress is by exercising. Doing it distracts you and it’s a great way to have fun.
  5. Play board games or build a puzzle. There’s nothing better than playing board games with your family!
  6. Clone your favorite Box Product (ColdBox, CommandBox, TestBox, ContentBox) and help us close down some tickets. While you’re at it, close a bug or add a new feature!

While this is a small list, there are many things you can do in your free time, so enjoy doing what you like!

MatchBox and WebAssembly: Running BoxLang in the Browser and at the Edge

The MatchBox open beta is live at https://boxlang.ortusbooks.com/boxlang-framework/matchbox, and it brings something genuinely new to the BoxLang ecosystem: a path into WebAssembly.

That means BoxLang code can now move into browser applications, static-site deployments, edge runtimes, and WASI-style containers - without requiring a JVM. The feature is still beta, but the core direction is already useful: write BoxLang, compile it with MatchBox, and ship the generated WASM artifact to wherever a small portable runtime makes sense.

BoxLang 1.14.0 : BoxSet is Here: BoxLang's New First-Class Set Type

BoxLang 1.14.0 ships something that JVM developers have wanted for a long time: a true first-class Set type baked directly into the language. Not a wrapper you reach for manually, not a createObject( "java", "java.util.HashSet" ) incantation you paste from a Stack Overflow answer years ago. A real BoxSet with literal syntax, operator overloads, a full functional pipeline, change listeners, JSON serialization, and deep Java interop.
