ColdBox 19th Anniversary, 7.4 Highlights, and 8.x Preview

  • Celebrating 19 years, ColdBox’s 7.4 release brings full BoxLang compatibility, enhanced WireBox features, and optimized CacheBox stores. With over 700 modules and 300,000+ installs, it introduces dynamic scheduler tasks, new flow delegate functions, and a bx-default template.

Looking ahead, ColdBox 8, coming this May, will focus on BoxLang-first development, featuring a compiled engine, async enhancements, and CLI support—while maintaining full CFML compatibility.

TestBox Powers Up with Native BoxLang Support and Modern Testing Tools

  • TestBox, the leading testing framework for CFML and BoxLang, now offers native BoxLang support, dynamic assertions, and serverless execution via the BoxLang Runner. With over 3.5 million installs, it brings spec function aliases (test()xtest()), mock data generation, and VSCode Test Explorer integration.

Coming in 2025, TestBox 7.x will introduce async testing, BoxLang code coverage, and enhanced xUnit support—continuing to set the standard for reliable, scalable testing.

CommandBox: The Powerful CLI for BoxLang and Modern CFML

  • CommandBox remains the go-to CLI for CFML and BoxLang developers, powering over 1.2M Adobe CF, 1.6M Lucee, and 8,000 BoxLang installs, with 1.8M Docker pulls.

Recent updates in 6.1.0 include server lucee-deploy, WebSocket support via SocketBox, and binary hash verification. 6.2.0 expands compatibility with Jakarta Servlet and adds server warmup URLs.

Looking ahead, CommandBox PRO will deliver premium enterprise features like Maven endpoints, cache modules, and a new server dashboard.

ContentBox Evolves with BoxLang-First Development and Smarter Content Management

  • After 13 years powering Ortus sites, ContentBox 6.x delivers modern performance with ColdBox 7, redesigned admin interfaces using AlpineJS, content templates, and enhanced headless API support.

The 7.x series (2025) takes it further with BoxLang-first development, AI assistance via bx-ai, a new visual block editor, and custom fields. Our roadmap extends to 9.x by 2027, ensuring a modular, intelligent CMS for the next generation of apps.

The Future of UI Development with CBWIRE

  • CBWIRE continues to simplify reactive UI development for CFML and BoxLang, inspired by Livewire and Alpine.js. It enables developers to create dynamic, real-time applications—like dashboards and e-commerce experiences—without complex JavaScript.

Upcoming updates include native BoxLang support, the bx-cbwire module, and improved parsing for faster rendering.

12 days of BoxLang - Day 3: SocketBox!

As BoxLang continues evolving into a modern, high-performance, JVM-based runtime, real-time communication becomes essential for the applications we all want to build: dashboards, collaboration tools, notifications, live feeds, multiplayer features, and more.

That’s where SocketBox steps in — the WebSocket upgrade listener built to work seamlessly with CommandBox and the BoxLang MiniServer. ⚡

Today, for Day 3, we’re highlighting how SocketBox supercharges BoxLang development by giving you fast, flexible, and framework-agnostic WebSocket capabilities.
